Compile Multi-Calc Packages
Combine several calculations into one paginated PDF package with a cover and table of contents.
A package bundles several calculations — plus any supporting PDFs — into a single, paginated deliverable. ClearSpan auto-generates a cover page and table of contents, then stamps continuous page numbers across the whole assembled document, so you can hand a client or plan-checker one tidy PDF instead of a folder of files.
What a package is#
A package belongs to a project and holds an ordered list of items. Each item is one of:
| Item kind | What it adds |
|---|---|
calc | A calculation's report, rendered from its current section plan |
pdf | An uploaded PDF or a copy of an existing project file |
section | A divider that prints a section cover page and groups the items beneath it in the table of contents |
When compiled, items render in order, calc reports use their resolved section plans (see Custom Report Sections & Templating), and section dividers become nested headings in the contents.
All org members of the project's firm can create, edit, and compile packages.
Create a package#
- Open the project and start a new package, giving it a title.
- ClearSpan seeds default settings: the cover picks up the project address, the table of contents is on, and page numbers print bottom-right starting at page 2.
- Adjust the package's cover metadata (client name, prepared by / prepared for, date label), table-of-contents title, and page-number settings any time.
Add items#
- Add a calculation — pick a calc from the same project. Use a title override to control its contents entry.
- Add a PDF — upload a PDF (up to 25 MB) or copy the latest version of an existing project file into the package.
- Add a section divider — give it a title (required) and optional cover content (subtitle, prepared by/for, date label, notes). Turn off its cover to make it an editor-only grouping that prints no page and no contents entry.
Reorder items by dragging; the order you set is the order they appear in the compiled PDF.
A section divider groups every calc and PDF that follows it, up to the next divider. Items placed before any divider become top-level contents entries.
Compile#
When the package is arranged the way you want, compile it. ClearSpan renders each calc report, assembles the cover, builds the table of contents with correct page references, merges everything, and stamps the page numbers.
The compiled PDF is saved into the project's /Calculations area as a versioned file (in draft state until you issue it), and the package records when it was last compiled. Recompiling after a change produces a fresh version.
You can also preview a package — this compiles and streams the PDF inline without saving a file or changing anything, so you can check the assembly before producing the final deliverable.
Page numbering, the cover, and the table of contents are all generated for you — keep individual calc reports focused on their checks and let the package handle pagination across the bundle.
